[A moment's hesitation and he holds out a hand again. Shake? That's a greeting thing, right? Do you shake hands after you yank someone off a falling balcony? What's the etiquette here? Keith doesn't know.]
Nice to meet you, now that we're, you know, on solid ground.
It is... the hexcodes aren't really that helpful with remembering people, though I think I'm starting to at least put shades to names now that they have some color.
[Ah well. A handshake! Good work.]
Are you feeling any better since then? [About this whole...situation...]
Yeah the color does help a little. Honestly the color helps in general. I didn't realize how unsettling the whole... no color.. thing was in general. It's still off putting, but a little less eerie.
[Minimally less eerie.
Keith shrugs at the question.] It wasn't really a matter of feeling bad about it. I'm just frustrated not knowing, and especially frustrated not knowing if it affected my helping my friends. And I won't know until we find a way out of here. So... [A grin.] I guess I'm still pretty pissed off, honestly. But I figure I can use that as motivation.
[It's worked for him for the better part of eighteen years so far. Kind of worked for him. Kind of got him kicked out of the Garrison, but that was a whole bunch of bullshit because they were lying about his friend and--
Okay back on track. Keith nods.] That has to be our first priority. People deserve to get back to their lives.
[A little shrug.] Honestly it's fine. It's the choice I made. And it's much better it's someone like me than someone else with a future and a family waiting for them.
[Minato's brow furrows a little in response, and he tucks his hands into his pockets, inspecting Keith critically.]
... I don't think that's quite right, either.
[Hm.]
I don't know much about your circumstances, but... I'm sure there are people who would be sad to lose you. That means someone else's life isn't more important than yours.
Someone else? Maybe not. But there are a lot more than one person in that balance. And there's no way I can say my life is more important than all those people.
[Keith looks back at him and spreads his hands now as if to say, that's really all he's got for an answer then.]
I'm not looking to die, and if there were another way to save everyone, I'd take it in a second. But I'm okay with it.
That's not what I mean either. It's not a more important thing on either side.
[Keith's life is important.
So are all of those other lives.]
Like I said... I understand. [Sacrificing yourself to save more people...Minato's been there too.] But.... just don't act like your life somehow matters less.
[Keith at least knows better than to try to argue that honestly, his death would have a much smaller impact than, well, most of his friends, most of the resistance. Maybe he's been with the Blade too long, where the individual doesn't matter. The mission matters. And only the mission.]
I think... most importantly, I just want to make sure my life does matter. While I can. Here or back in my universe, wherever I happen to be.
... I see. [It's a lot to want to do--to matter, as if just living and breathing, talking to people and interacting, isn't enough of an impact to already matter.
... Well. It's fine. That's something to bring up later, not in a very first conversation.]
I'm sure that you've had a big impact on a lot of people. I'm...really sure about that. You seem like the sort of person who has fought that hard for everyone else's sakes.
That's nice to think. Thanks... for saying it, I mean.
[Keith would like to believe that. He really would. But the mess of insecurities in him tend not to let that happen. Those are the things he doesn't talk about anyway, not really.]
So... you're not planning on climbing on things after any more buckets, right?
Right? It makes you wonder. If whatever brought us here gave us the laptops, maybe it wasn't from this place to begin with. Maybe whatever happened to the color here was caused by something that came from the outside.
[This is all wild supposition and theory at this point, but Keith has clearly been thinking about things. He has way too much time for thinking, honestly.]
no subject
Minato just snorts softly at that, expression somewhat amused despite himself.]
... Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.
no subject
Seriously though. There had to be less perilous buckets to grab.
[Ground buckets. Buckets not on deathtrap balconies.]
Also, welcome to my room, I guess.
no subject
[Uh.
Hm.]
...Thanks for your hospitality.
[Now is not the time, Minato.]
no subject
Yeah don’t mention it,
[He hops to his feet now and holds his hand out to Minato to help him up as well.]
no subject
... Oh, right. I'm Minato, by the way. [THEY MAY AS WELL GET ACQUAINTED after all of that.]
no subject

["The possibly dead one".]
You made that post before, right?
[But sure, handshakes, he can do that. Time to shake!! Hands!!]
no subject
[Keith nods. At least he's not terribly worried about admitting that. He did announce it to the whole network, after all.]
A while back. It's good to put a face to a name. It's confusing, with the numbers and letters. Trying to remember who is who is hard.
Honestly I barely remember mine.
[Hooray. Handshaking! Okay. Keith figures that went well at least. Good job being a person, Keith.]
no subject
[Ah well. A handshake! Good work.]

Fair enough... I guess our most important task really is still trying to find a way home for everyone, after all.
I really am glad you're doing okay, though. It can't be easy, dealing with a situation like that.

[shrug. No promises for the future.]
Just finding this one is helpful enough. We need all the supplies we can get in a place like this.
no subject
[Speaking of.] You've noticed how old fashioned this place is, right? With the exception of the laptops. Which seem really out of place.
[Like. Super out of place. Given the clothing they can find especially.]
no subject
[He frowns a bit at that.]
It's like the laptops were put here just for us, but they definitely don't fit the overall set up of this place at all. I don't really get it.
no subject
[This is all wild supposition and theory at this point, but Keith has clearly been thinking about things. He has way too much time for thinking, honestly.]
no subject
I think you're right. Or if nothing else... there's something weird happening to get us things like this laptop.
Which means that the Town isn't completely isolated, right? It can't be.
no subject
Right. The technology came from outside. We came from outside. That means it can't only be this... there has to be a way in and out.
[They just need to find it.] So we gotta keep looking. ...but in the meantime, we do need to survive.
[Okay, daredevil?]
no subject
He has no idea what you mean, Keith.]
We'll be fine, I think. If we all work together, we can survive just fine.
