[And Keith will be there! With bells on! Okay actually not with bells on. He's wearing clothes he's scavenged from the town though, because honestly sometimes the space onesie just... isn't practical. Convenient?
Either way he catches sight of Yusuke and lifts a hand in greeting.]
I have roommates as well, but... I do not speak much with them.
[Frankly it's been long enough he doesn't know how to strike up conversation... Besides, they're not always around for him to do so. Like right now they're totally conveniently not here as Yusuke leads the way inside and further back, toward his room.]
Yeah? I have a kid that lives with me. Swears more than anyone I've ever met.
[Keith looks around as he trails behind Yusuke, up to the other's room to check out these magically appearing knives. It's probably wrong how interested he is in seeing them. And yet, here he is. Super. Super. Interested.]
[He doesn't... But onward to Yusuke's bedroom! It's decorated modestly, surprisingly, but Yusuke doesn't have the necessary items with colour to truly deck it out.
Lined up aesthetically along a bureau are... a ton of knives. Yup. He laid them out carefully but that didn't help when he ran out of room for them.] I don't know too much about mine, and I wonder if I've missed my chance to grow closer to them. It is a strange experience living with others like this.
Yeah, living around other people can be weird. I never got used to it at the Garrison.
[It was a little more comfortable on the Castle, though he doesn't exactly fit in there at this point in time either, since he went off to join the Blade full time.
For now he makes his way over to the knives, picking one up and turning it over in his hands, giving it a quick test with a roll of his wrist.]
[Yusuke tags along after him, somehow pleased that Keith understands the way that he feels. He stops to watch as Keith tests out the knife.]
...Truly, I am unfamiliar. My weapon was--ah, this.
[He shifts, going over to what looks like a real katana. He fetches it and returns, offering it to Keith. It'll be quickly apparent it's just an extremely well-made model.]
[Setting the knife down, Keith reaches for the katana, and. Yeah, okay. Not.. real. Interesting. he turns it over in his hands before looking up to Yusuke, curiously. Though he thinks he remembers something about this, a conversation a while back.]
Well, if you're used to wielding a sword, that's almost a start with the knives, so that's good.
Some of it will. You're still going to need to know how to match an opponent's movements, how to keep your balance, use the momentum of your body through the blade. Knives are quicker though. Shorter, smaller motions, and they're harder to use defensively.
[Keith rattles off, but yes. He'll grab another knife to hand to Yusuke. Take two kiddo they're gonna dual wield.
[He does look surprised, though, even as he takes the second knife. He holds them awkwardly at his sides but he moves to lead the way.] Is fighting with two better than one?
Dunno. It depends on the person. SO we'll find out.
[Keith tends to stick with the one because he's always had this knife and it's all sentimental value. But. There's probably something to be said for having a blade in either hand, gives more options about the attack and what not.]
[Whether or not it fits him... He nods solemnly as they make their way outside, around the house to the backyard. Yusuke pauses there, looking toward Keith expectantly like what now sensei.]
Yeah. No use using a weapon in a way that doesn't work for you, right?
[It's all got to flow with your style, Yusuke. Whichever works better, but Keith will do his best to give him pointers on either way and let Yusuke figure out which is the best fit.]
So. First thing that's different about knives and swords -- you're generally only going to hold a sword with a forward grip right?
[He holds the knife out like it were a short sword, blade more or less up.] Like this, right?
[He shifts his grip on one of the knives to demonstrate the... well, it's a fancy posture for holding a katana. That kind of sword is a different type all its own as well.]
But I do not have near the same amount of reach with these.
Right yeah good. Thing with knives is, they're quicker and easier to change your grip on. Versatile, you know. Depends who you're fighting and what they're bringing to the party.
[He draws his own dagger and flips it in his hand, a few quick slashes, then tosses it to the other hand, grabs it in a reverse grip and makes a few different movements.]
Also depending on the weight and balance, you might get away with throwing them, in certain situations. Careful with that though or you're literally giving your opponent your weapon.

Thank you, though. I would appreciate that greatly.

Hey. So you got a bunch of knives, huh?
no subject
I did. They were just in a disorganised pile, but I have at least organised them some by now.
Come in.
[IN IN. He will show Keith his room.]
no subject
[Pile of knives. Like... from the knife fairy? Definitely the best fairy if that's the case. Keith will follow Yusuke inside though.]
I think this is the first time I've been inside your house.
[Achievement unlocked?]

He'll pick one up for himself too.]
Sounds good.

Yes. I hardly need to give an enemy more of an advantage over me.
[He considers... and tries to imitate Keith...
...
It could go better. He's a little clumsy and his expression says he knows that.]
